Privacy Policy

Who we are

Kura Asset Managers is a fund management company licensed and regulated by the Capital Markets Authority of Uganda. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy.

What we collect

• Your name, date of birth, national identification or passport number, address, telephone number and email address
• Employment or business details, and information about your source of funds
• Bank and payment details needed to receive and return your money
• Records of your investments, transactions and instructions
• Records of our correspondence with you, including calls we record for quality and compliance purposes
• Technical information about how you use our website, such as your device and browser

Why we collect it

• To verify your identity and meet our know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering obligations under Ugandan law
• To open and administer your account, process transactions and pay you
• To give you statements, valuations and other information about your investments
• To meet our obligations to the Capital Markets Authority and other regulators, and to respond to lawful requests
• To detect and prevent fraud and financial crime
• To improve our services, and to send you information about them where you have agreed to receive it

We only collect what we need. Some of it we are required by law to collect — if you choose not to provide it, we may not be able to open or maintain your account.

How we protect it

We use encryption, access controls that limit information to staff who need it for their work, and regular reviews of our systems. Our staff are bound by confidentiality obligations. No system is completely secure, but we take our responsibility here seriously and act promptly if something goes wrong.

Who we share it with

• Licensed partners who help us serve you — custodians, banks, fund administrators and auditors — under confidentiality agreements
• Regulators and authorities where the law requires it
• Professional advisers, such as our lawyers, where necessary
• Service providers who operate our systems, and who process data only on our instructions

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Some of our service providers operate outside Uganda. Where your information is transferred abroad, we take steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard consistent with Ugandan law, including contractual data-protection commitments with those providers.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as you are a client, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to — including record-keeping obligations under anti-money laundering and capital markets rules. When we no longer need it, we delete it securely or anonymise it.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection and Privacy Act you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
• Ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep
• Object to us using your information for direct marketing, at any time
• Withdraw consent where we relied on it

Write to clientservice@kuraassetmanagers.com and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you may complain to the National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
